5 Home Business Drug-Free Tips For Depression In Work At Home Moms
By: Tammy Embrich
If you are a work at home mom with your own home business, then that in itself, (despite all the advantages of working at home) can cause stress, anxiety and depression. The average American goes through (we call it the blues), at various stages in their lives. However, the real trick is what you do about those blues. I deal with depression every day of my life, so if you're seeking help today, I have a few tips up my sleeve.
Depression seems to plaque women more than men. A woman's hormones alone can do a lot of bad things to the mind and spirit. Chemical imbalances in the brain can also be a factor. If you suffer from depression, take comfort in knowing there are natural things you can do before considering medication. There are a lot of various things that help me, however everyone is different. Just because something works for me doesn't necessarily mean it will work for the next person. Although the majority of the normal tips will work for most people that suffer from depression.
Before going into the tips, I want you to remember something. If you work at home, then you surely need to count your blessings; as gas prices and a host of other things that relate with brick and mortar jobs are consistently rising. So that's the number one thing to be happy about, and especially if you're a single Mom and making enough income to support your children. That right there is a HUGE accomplishment! Not many work at home moms can say they make enough to support their family with their income alone, or if married, even to significantly supplement their spouse's salary nicely . That should put a big smile on your face right there! However, I can sure relate to those no-smile days. I have listed a number of things below that most depressed women can substantially benefit from. I hope they will help you in your situation.
*Positive Attitude and Establishing Your Business - I think the first thing that needs to be addressed is getting started working at home and therefore, building your home business marketing resources. If you just started with a home business, and you think you're a failure already; stop with the negative attitude. All home businesses needs time to establish in order to experience real success. You will need to have patience to see your desired results...that goes for any business you start, home or the outside world.
For home business start-ups, there are so many places on the net where you can utilize marketing and promotion resources. You can perform searches on Google, properly network on the various social media sites, spend some time reading on marketing forums, and also chat rooms is another good place to ask questions. Just know there are a great deal of FREE resources at your disposal for your marketing needs. Also there are many, many free ecourses that you will find on Google.
* Exercise - This is #1 for me. Exercise is excellent for so many things. However, there is an euphoric, instant benefit after working out. Endorphins (which are chemicals) are then released from the body and coordinates with the brain; leaving you feeling energized and relaxed and much more positive for starting a good day's work. A good sweat always gets me going in the morning.
* Natural Herbs - I have found certain herb supplements to relieve depression and anxiety. Valerian Root and Passionflower are two that I have tried, and it helps with my anxiety mostly. I did call my doctor however, and asked if these herb supplements would be harmful along with the medications I'm on, and he said they were safe. There are a couple of others such as; St John's Wort, Skullcap, and Thyme. Of course it's a good idea to check with your doctor if you are on any medications just to be safe. Everyone is different.
* Keeping Busy - We all know (or we should) that always being aware of your depression and sitting around dwelling on things that help keep you depressed of course is the root of chronic depression and low self esteem. I know, I've experienced this many times. Sitting around doing nothing is a wide open invitation for a royal pity party. I've learned the hard way that doing this is NO GOOD! Keeping your mind active and busy is the key to warding off any negative thinking and helps boost your energy level. Dwelling on negative thoughts can literally suck all energy from you. Get out and walk and smell the fresh air, and stay busy with your work at home business, there is always room for improvement. Write daily in a journal, visit family and friends, start a new hobby, Anything...just keep busy!
* Friends - Concentrate on making friends in your circle of business associates. And the best place to do this is on the social media websites. Twitter is my favorite. Be respectful, be nice, and take your time to meet other people that will help you stay positive. Don't associate with people that will only bring you down.
I hope these were some help to you, they are pretty basic, but hey, they really work for me. After I get past my workouts in the mornings, I look forward to a full work day and also doing business with the many friends I've met along my journey in the work at home industry.
