Freelance Writing For Pennies: Is It Worth Your Time?
By Tammy Embrich
Your answer to this depends on a lot of things. With freelancing work, you are free to write for as many clients or companies as you wish. You also don't have any long-term commitments with any of the clients.
Do you have products or a website to promote? Is the freelancing work ghostwriting? Are you paid per blog posts?
If you are ghostwriting, of course, it would not benefit you at all to write for, say a low payment of $1 per 400 word article. That would not be worth your time, as with ghostwriting, you don't get recognition for the pieces you write. The client is free to do what they wish to with your written work. They could resell them or they could use it for their own content on their sites, or whatever they choose to do with it. After your ghostwriting work is complete and submitted, you no longer have rights to it.
However, if you were writing blog posts for someone and you would be allowed to inlcude your resource box and website links, then writing blog posts (even if this was not a paying position), it would be worth your time, especially if the blog was high up in the search engines, thus, getting you significant traffic from those posts.
So, it's best to find out all about the blog in question you will be writing for before you reach an agreement between you and the blog owner. If a certain blog posting position would benefit you with free advertising and you also get paid, then you are fortunate. It would pay off well for you.
Do you enjoy freelance writing working for pennies?
Some people love the writing process so much that they are willing to do it for very low pay, if none at all. That's totally up to the freelancer. If you're writing, you are also getting more experienced and educated for future freelance jobs. Sometimes, it 's worth the weight in gold right there.
Is it worth it to write for various paying article writintg sites? Some of them pay you for just views and not the actual article. And then some pay you for each short article, but the pay is quite low. Is it worth it to write for these companies?
Think about this, if you work your way up to wrting a lot of articles in a day or week's time for 2 or 3 paid article sites, it could be well worth your time. You could make some decent money for just writing articles.
